Surgical procedures that prevent reproduction, undesired behaviour, and illnesses in cats and dogs.
Spaying and neutering not only stops your pet from reproducing but it also prolongs their life. Pets who’ve had the procedure tend to roam less (thus avoiding fatal accidents) and are less likely to develop reproductive cancers. This is a safe and effective procedure we recommend you schedule sooner rather than later.
During the procedure, we remove your pet’s reproductive organs. For male pets (neutering), we make an incision near their scrotum to remove their testes. For female pets (spaying), an incision is made near the abdomen to remove their ovaries. We perform the procedure while your pet is under general anesthesia so they’ll experience no pain throughout. After surgery, our veterinary team will provide detailed instructions on how you should be caring for your pet. This includes limiting their physical activity for the days immediately after the procedure, monitoring the incision for infection, ensuring your pet doesn’t bite or chew at their stitches and giving them pain medication as prescribed. There are a range of benefits to having the procedure done, which far outweigh the risks. Our veterinary team has a dedicated surgical suite that provides us with the tools and technologies we need to ensure your pet has a safe and effective procedure. Aside from stopping their ability to reproduce, some other benefits of the procedure include:
